What if you could flashback in time; it’d be cool, right?
Now, what if when you flashed back you saw something terrifying and there was nothing you could do about it, or is there? This is the premise of my new Flashback series, which will be out this fall.
People who loosely inspired the characters in my novel, or who I thought of once the character was developed and taking on a personality, are as follows:
Book 1 and 2 –
Chris Clark – my nephew. When I was creating the main character, John Carpenter, I thought of Chris who was a likeable, gentle, friendly guy. Anyone who ever came in contact with him walked away as his friend.
John Barrowman – an actor on Torchwood and a singer. I pictured him as I fleshed out my detective character, Nate Cliffton. John’s cheeky, intense, and can play tough as he did in his Jack Harkness character.
Nichole Hiltz – Played Brandi Shannon on the series In Plain Sight and plays Brandy Carpenter in my series. Although Brandy does not have the past and doesn’t get into as much trouble as Brandi, Nichole came to mind as the character developed – mostly as a loveable yet annoying little sister.
Book 2 –
Gareth David-Lloyd – an actor on Torchwood. He came to mind as I developed the character Detective Pete Cavanaugh. Gareth played Ianto Jones in the Torchwood series, a very proper Welshman who was very intuitive.
Teddy Sears – an actor on American Horror Story and Torchwood: Miracle Day. Although only mentioned briefly in book 2, Special Agent Lance Lott of the U.S. Coast Guard looks like Mr. Sears in my head.
