Self-Published vs Semi-Self-Published; Song of the Day – When in Rome by Nickel Creek
I am a little confused regarding the title I can use when talking to people and telling them that I’m a writer. Do I say I’m an independent author because I’m not represented by an agent and I do not have publishing houses clamoring for my work; or do I say I’m a self-published author (for the same reasons). Am I independent or self-published since I’m paying Abbott Press to help me publish my book and distribute it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble?
I thought long and hard about following in the footsteps of the self-published authors that I have met on Twitter, and even bought a book entitled the Path to Self-Publishing Success by Michael R. Hicks, but I find I do not have the patience or where-with-all to do everything – writing the book was easier.
My hat is off to the hard-working independent or self-publishing authors, I admire them and their tireless pursuit of publishing success. Perhaps I will grow into a self-published author once I understand the entire process, but for now I’m going to take this other path and see where I come out on the other end.
