I’m so excited! Only 13 days more before the start of National Novel Writing Month (http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/dashboard). I plan to write the second novel in my Flashback series (yes, I just titled my series and am thinking of several follow-up books – big dreams). I finished the first novel and am now charting a course through the labyrinth that is finalizing and publishing. But I already started getting ideas for a second novel and have been waiting for this month to put them down on paper; just throwing together some outlines and story points on pieces of scrap paper and the back of envelopes, writing as I sat waiting in a room or in my car. The first novel was done before the NaNoWriMo began, it just happened, I had no control over it because the story ideas kept coming faster and faster. So I’m dedicating my second novel to NaNoWriMo, an event that inspired me to put my thoughts to paper in the first place.
I first heard about NaNoWriMo when I purchased a novel-writing kit, No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty, Founder of National Novel Writing Month. Opening the kit and reading through the materials encouraged me to be serious about writing. I highly recommend reading the tips and techniques outlined in the kit. Very motivational and useful. I purchased the kit at a Barnes and Noble store, but I’m sure it’s available elsewhere, or even on-line.
What activity are you still working up the courage to try? Anyway, 13 days and counting!!
